The 30 Minute Website

It's no secret I am a huge advocate of portfolio websites and having an online presence. I hear all too often “I don't need a website”, “I don't have time to design it” or “I don't know how to code”. I have no doubt all these excuses are true, as they definitely apply for me as well.

However there is nothing more disappointing than being linked to an empty page—no matter how witty your brief description to justify it's absence may be. There are so many ways to create a website nowadays and not all of them require a ton of time. Lettering lady boss Kate Pullen was sporting website el blanco (sorry to call you out Kate!) so I whipped something up for her to demonstrate how quick and no-fuss it really can be. If you follow her on Instagram you'll know how beautiful her feed is and that she already posts a variety of new and original content there. All I did was create a page with a few quick links and embed her account—absolutely no exaggeration when I say it took me 30 minutes to design.

To give come context, this is before aka blank page aka sad face.

You can easily create your own by embedding a widget, and in this case I used SnapWidget to customise, which is super simple and free. After some fine Facebook back-and-forth and fiddling around with DNS settings, bingo, bango and Kate's was live. Now when she posts a new picture, it goes straight to her website too.

So there you have it, a website in 30 minutes. I dare—nay—double dare you to challenge my record! If you do end up using this send me a link as I would love to see what you do with it!
