It would appear podcasts are the new blog, and my ear buds could not be happier! With so many great podcasts popping up in the last year (and discovering some oldies), I thought it was time to update my previous post on listening and learning with podcasts.
This obviously isn’t all the design podcasts out there, but I’ve selected a few I personally love and listen to.
Adventures in Design
Exploring the reality of trying to live your creative dreams. Sometimes educational, sometimes off topic but always entertaining! Episode 364 about the US Government vs. Apple unlocking the iPhone is a good one!
Australian Design Radio
Providing Australia and the world with conversations and commentary on Australian Design. Hosted by Flyn Tracy and Matt Leach with regular industry guests.
Hosted by Tim & Pete, young guys trying to make sense of this industry. They stopped making this and it appears the Soundcloud links are now broken (womp womp). I’m leaving it on here to hopefully inspire them to start it up again.
The talks you love and the people behind them. It’s all the usual CM fuzzies in podcast format.
Design and an inquiry into the broader world of creative culture through wide-ranging conversations with designers, writers, artists, curators, musicians, and other luminaries of contemporary thought, hosted by Debbie Millman. When you’ve been recording a podcast for over ten years, there’s a pretty big archive! I binge listened to so many of these, so good!
Font Font Talking Types
Step outside our typographic box and speak to designers, makers, disrupters, and interesting types from across the world to hear their stories and discuss design.
It’s Nice That
Great website in general so you know it’s going to be a good podcast. The have a few different ones on there so check them out!
Playing It By Ear
A series of conversations to learn more about each other, outside of what we do to pay our rent. A personal project by Kate Pullen, it's rough around the edges and there are no hard and fast rules. Kate is a good friend of mine and I loved catching up with her to record the first episode of the show!
Design, business and no-bullshit, with over 260 episodes recorded in the last two years. This guy just doesn’t quit.
The Great Discontent
Rumour on the webvine is that TGD will be releasing a new podcast this Spring. If it’s as good as the magazine I’ll be tuning in for sure. You’ll have to check back with this one to see when it has launched though, as there are no dates specified that I can see.
Know any great podcasts that aren’t on this list? Feel free to tweet them to me!
